LIVING IN AUCKLAND
Auckland, New Zealand’s largest city and commercial hub, has a population of around 1.4 million which represents about one third of the population of the whole country. The population includes a vibrant mix of European, Maori, Polynesian and Asian cultures. This diversity is reflected in a variety of ways – through the local cuisine, community festivals and some unique educational programmes.
Known as the “City of Sails” - Auckland is a water-lover’s paradise, with the largest boat ownership per capita in the world, and home to the America’s Cup Village. Built on an isthmus between two harbours, Auckland is surrounded by sub-tropical islands, sparkling waters and lush native forests. With 23 regional parks, 2 marine reserves, 100km of coastline, more than 500km of walking tracks and 48 volcanic cones, Auckland’s lifestyle has been regularly voted as one of the best in the world.
The College does not have students housing, but we can assist you with finding accommodation. Students mainly live in shared housing within walking distance of the College campus. The New Zealand Chiropractic Student Association has a Facebook Page where you'll find student housing vacancies.
For an indication of the type of accommodation available and costs refer to the Property to Rent or Flatmates Wanted section in TradeMe.
COST OF LIVING
The Guide to Living is designed to give you an indication of average costs for everyday expenses in New Zealand.
There are different activities that students at the College get to experience.
LIFE 101 CAMP
Within the first week of starting at the College, students get the opportunity to embark on an experiential weekend, where they push boundaries, form bonds, and further their knowledge of chiropractic.
Each year our Third Year students take their chiropractic skills to the island of Rarotonga and spend a week serving the community. From newborn babies to 95-year-olds, the students see people with very limited access to healthcare - especially chiropractic.
The week is a steep but hugely rewarding learning curve that increases the students' confidence, ability and passion for the profession. Chiropractic Abroad is a life-changing experience that students never forget.
